In a series of unseen videos and photos, released
after the inquest into his death, the 19-year-old is seen in his final moments before vanishing on Tenerife.

The teenager, from Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire, disappeared on the party island last summer
sparking a major manhunt before he was found dead
about a month later. 

He was on holiday at the time and had been to the NRG
music festival with friends at the Papagayo nightclub in Playa
de las Americas on June 16 last year.

Early the next day, Mr Slater is thought to have gone to an Airbnb with convicted drug dealer Ayub Qassim, 31, and fellow Briton, Steven Roccas before vanishing. 

He was reported missing on June 18 before his body was found in a steep
and inaccessible area by a mountain rescue team from the Spanish Civil Guard near the village of Masca on July 15,
2024.

Videos, revealed for the first time today as part of the inquest into Jay’s death, appear to show him travelling in the back of a
car to remote village of Masca after having joined a rave
earlier in the evening. 

Another two-second clip, sent from Jay’s phone to his friends, shows him appearing to brag about stealing a watch.

‘Just took a 12k rolly of some c*** wi this Mali kid off to get 10quid for it now haha off my undies,
‘ reads a caption on the video, which was sent to friends shortly before 6am on the day of
his disappearance. 

A second picture message from the car journey, shared on Snapchat at
roughly the same time, reads: ‘Yes cuz ended up getting thrown out of
there me with 2 maili kids just took an AP off some c*** on way to
sell it for 10 quid.’

The 19-year-old’s body was found about a month later in a steep ravine despite a major search and rescue
effort

After arriving at the AirBnb, Jay sent a 13-second clip at 7am showing himself smoking a cigarette outside the villa while taking in the
scenery.

Jay’s next video was sent minutes later. It would be the last one he ever sent. 

The seven-second clip showed mountains outside the AirBnb he
was driven back to by Britons Ayub Qassim and Steven Roccas
at 7.08am on the morning of his disappearance – police later geolocated
the footage to Masca. 

The clips come as the inquest into Mr Slater’s death was dramatically
halted on Wednesday when his mother, Debbie, hit out
after two British men who rented an Airbnb he went back to
failed to attend.

During the inquest, Preston Coroner’s Court heard Jay was found to have had drugs in his
system.

The hearing was also told extensive efforts including summonses had been issued for several witnesses who were in contact with Mr Slater before he disappeared.

But Mr Slater’s mother Debbie Duncan, 55, made an emotional outburst after the two British men who
rented the AirBnb – convicted drug dealer Mr Qassim and Mr Roccas, previously known as ‘Rocky’- did
not attend the hearing.

She told Lancashire senior coroner Dr James Adeley: ‘How can we ever
get any understanding? We know he died, he had an accident.’
